The Great Pyramid of Giza was build in the third Millennium B.C. It is about 481 feet high and 456 feet long. Name a modern engineering project you consider to be a greater accomplishment. Explain why.
SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTION: Only do the supplement below if you are one of the three students who have two engineering classes. Otherwise, do not proceed.
Modern historians believe that 20,000 to 30,000 workers built the Great Pyramid of Giza under harsh working conditions, with many deaths. In modern times, forced workers have been conscripted to work on public projects, especially during times of war. In less extreme modern circumstances, workers may be exposed to dangers arising from a civil engineering project. What moral responsibility does a civil engineer have for the working conditions of the people building the project the engineer designed?
